STARGLITTER CATTERY TOUR

Welcome to StarGlitter Bengals

Please join us on a Cattery Tour

Visitors are always WELCOME - please call for an appointment as we travel a lot to the shows.

This is a picture from the front of the runs.  Each pen contains a true den like dwelling for each cat.  They love the privacy of their little dens.  The dens are insulated for warmth in the winter and coolness in the summer, lined with hardy board for easy cleaning and each boy has his own cozy rug.  The concrete provides easy cleaning each week as the runs are power sprayed and sanitized for cleanliness.  It is impossible to sanitize dirt and rock which allows for growth of bacteria, fungus and insect infestations.
There are 3 levels for the cats to climb, play and lounge on.  They are provided enrichment toys to keep them happy and their minds busy;)  Each litter box is covered in an outdoor fabric for attractiveness.  Plants are NEVER put inside the runs.  This is a very dangerous practice.  All landscaping is done on the outside.
We have selected plantings not only for beauty but to attract humming birds for cats viewing pleasure - Cat TV.
All landscaping is planted out of reach of the cats.  You can never be too careful.  Each outside pen is also lined with metal to prevent any interaction with wild animals as we do live in the country.
This is the west side of the cattery showing the hose for the misters.  These bushes will grow into a nice hedge, keeping their leaves all winter which adds for nice Winter viewing and have small white blooms in the Spring
This is Yukon's pen.  You can see the seating available for our daily visits.  Yukon has his sisal for his scratching pleasure.  He has toys hanging and loose available for his enjoyment.  Also notice that the Hardy board was kept from touching the concrete.  This provides for easy cleaning and drainage.
In this picture you can see the first two levels available to Yukon.  Each boy currently has a double size spacious pen with two dens available.
Ember LOVES the uppermost level.  This is his absolute favorite place to hang out.
This view clearly shows all 3 levels the boys have available to them.  Each again having hanging toys and loose toys.  We have purposely kept anything possible off the concrete.  This gives the boys plenty of space to run, play and makes it easy to clean.
This is a picture of the misters used to keep the cats cool in the heat of the Texas' summers.  The boys love playing in the misters and just laying in the mist;)
This is just a couple of pictures of a stream installed. The slight noise from the running  water is very relaxing.
Cat Art- just for fun;) This shows the entrance to a den, toys, scratching area, and seating bench for visits.
These two pictures show the "trap" area that run the complete front of the runs.  This is a safety precaution to prevent any escapes and is extra nice when you have visitors.

Since it is a necessity for the boys to live outside we have strived to make it comfortable, entertaining, and still feel like a home for them. The girls go outside for short visits for sunshine and fresh air on the weekends when we are home.  The girls also go out to visit the boys at breeding time;)

MORE to come soon.  We area currently painting the nursery so it will be ready soon.

All babies are born in our bedroom in the closet.  This way I am always close by to make sure all is well:)

This is Desi with her first litter - 7 beautiful babies. Desi is quite content with babies in the closet and enjoys the privacy it provides her.
Desi and her kittens will remain here in the bedroom until they reach 4 weeks of age.  At that time they will then be moved to the nursery.

Hope you enjoyed your visit and if you have any questions please let us know.
